History
A tale
of many flavours
Arguably one of Lyon’s most iconic “Mothers”, Eugénie Brazier, also known as “La Mère Brazier”, has embodied an unwavering commitment to quality, local produce and traditional skills since 1921.
A pioneer in sourcing food locally and in the fight against waste, as well as a campaigner against social discrimination, the extraordinary career of this daughter of Bresse farmers is truly inspirational.
Today, the Mère Brazier delicatessens uphold these values by offering a variety of convivial and multi-faceted living spaces for everyday gastronomy.

Viannay
When he took over La Mère Brazier restaurant in 2008, Chef Mathieu Viannay, winner of the 2004 Best Craftsman of France award, injected a contemporary twist to the menu and locale. “I took over the reins of this establishment as gently as I could. I had to simultaneously change everything and nothing.”
A velvet revolution and two stars later, the restaurant continues to shape its story and expand with the opening of deli counters in Lyon and Paris, offering the 21st century version of Eugénie Brazier’s “porte-pot” meaning small bistro: a multi-faceted living space serving everyday gastronomy.
